The Magazine for Art, Theory and Activism, Up & Underground, founded in 1995, has several times changed its editorial policy during its existence - and, accordingly, its design. Although originally conceived as the paper of the Zagreb club Gjuro 2, in time the ambitions of the publisher have grown. Thus three double issues (2005-2009), edited by Maroje Mrduljaš and Damir Bralić, and dedicated to writings of Croatian and foreign intellectuals, artists and theorists, were designed in a striking magazine format. The visual identity of the magazine was based on austere composition, large monochrome portraits of the contributors, and on colour as the differentiation marker of the individual issues.
