technique: machine knitting, sewing
These two designers have joined their creative creeds into a joint project that took its name from their tools of choice, knitting needles (IGLE – needles). The designers always use their needles in a double role that balances the two main principles of clothing, smooth and gathered. The first image that I-GLE build is on the whole smooth, composed, compact, without them revealing any special operations in the design process. However, at some moment of growth, the material starts to resist and will not follow this logic; instead, there are surprises, irruptions in the continuity of the form in the shape of high bumps of relief, or more often, as cracks and hollows, where some new, different kind of reality comes into being. In this slash, this breakthrough into the invisible, into the space behind, an interaction of diversity is achieved going to confirm the unity of the object. This kind of deconstructivist operation stands right behind the vitalist design principle of the coexistence of dualities, constantly correlating idea and implementation and supporting a dialogue between creation and function.
