Catalogue of an exhibition devoted to El Shatt — the desert reception centre in Egypt in which during World War II, a large number of refugees from Dalmatia found salvation in the face of the Nazi invasion.
The sandpaper is a direct association to the desert, and also to the abrasive experience of time spent in a refugee camp.
